More dates are to be announced soon, so stay tuned!  The New Year's run is right around the corner, with 3 nights in Savannah, GA and 3 nights in St. Augustine, FL.  Check the tour page for more details.

WINTER/SPRING TOUR

Absylom Rising has announced plans for a winter/spring tour in February and March of 2009 that will take the band to uncharted territory, both musical and geographical.  Preliminary plans are to touchdown in Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, and D.C.  Stay tuned to AbsylomRising.com for tour information as it becomes available.

TAYLOR FERGUSON

One of Absylom Rising's oldest friends needs our help. 25 year old Taylor Ferguson has been diagnosed with Ewing's Sarcoma, a rare bone cancer that has spread to her lungs and spinal canal. Her best friend Elizabeth has launched www.helptay.com in an effort to raise funds to cover her first round of chemo, because surgery is not an option. COLORADO IN MARCH

Absylom Rising has announced plans to head west!  Preliminary dates have been scheduled in Colorado and New Mexico beginning in late February and continuing into early March. More dates are around the corner, so check back soon for all the information!

JEREMY WARD ON PERCUSSION

Last night was awesome!  Jeremy Ward of Good Paper made the trip to Huntsville with the band and sat in on percussion for the entire show, featuring multiple drum jams and a monster 2+ hour second set.  It was the last show of the year for Absylom Rising, and a great way to wrap up 2007.  Thanks to everyone in attendance.  See ya next year!

HUMPHREY'S NEXT FRIDAY

Absylom Rising will be at Humphrey's next week, so come on out Huntsvegas!  Unless the weather is unseasonably warm, the show will be indoors, which means you Humphrey's regulars that always brave the elements don't have to bundle up.  The band is spending the holidays with their families, and this is the last show of the year, so come say goodbye to 2007 with us!

Next Wednesday, August 22nd, The Flatwoods will open for Absylom Rising at Humphrey's in Huntsville, AL.  The Flatwoods feature acoustic folk, bluegrass, and country music on guitar, bass, and mandolin.  Should be fun...don't miss it!

Absylom Rising has released preliminary dates for the Winter/Spring tour schedule, with shows in Oxford, Memphis, Florence, Huntsville, Atlanta, and Savannah beginning February 22 and leading into March.  We're pleased to announce that Warren Waldrop of Memphis, TN, will join the band on drums for the entire tour, so don't miss your chance to see Warren G in action!!  For more info visit the tour page.

After a suprise set at Dave's Darkhorse last weekend, Jeremy Ward of The Ward took the drum throne this weekend for an improptu 3 night run with Absylom Rising in Savannah, GA. Midi-saxophone pioneer Cecil "P-Nut" Danels joined AR onstage in Atlanta last night at The Peachtree Tavern for an exciting 40 minutes that featured Bill Wither's "Use Me" and AR's "From Far Away". P-Nut's unique and progressive sound shows up on many stages, most notably that of Widespread Panic, having performed with them over 30 times in the past decade.

Gabe & John made an impromptu appearance on NPR affiliate KOTO Radio in Telluride, CO, last night. The Tom & Robert show played AR singles "Make It Through" and "Under The Radar", then gave the band a plug for their show at the legendary music venue Fly Me To The Moon, a club that has hosted Widespread Panic, SCI, Phish, Leftover Salmon, NM Allstars, ... you get the picture. We met a whole new family of friends. Thank you Telluride!

The last night of AR's Halloween run was riddled with debuts, including "Psycho Killer", "The Wolfman's Brother", "Roses Are Free", and Michael Jackson's "Thriller". Gabe, Jonathan, and Heath dressed as a pimp, Napoleon Dynamite, and intergalactic country music superstar Darth Brooks, respectively, but John Ashley was a Gremlin during the first set, then went with the full costume change. His second set attire is perhaps best described simply as a camel hoof. Here's the setlist.

NEW CD COMING SOON

Under The Radar, the new CD from Absylom Rising, is one step closer to completion. John Darnell and recorded in the same Muscle Shoals studio that has hosted countless icons (Dwayne Allman, Paul Simon, Aretha Franklin, to name a few), this is AR's first legitimate studio album. Though originally scheduled for a mid-summer release, it looks like it will be mid-fall. "The most important thing is not when it comes out," said guitarist Heath Mahan, "The most important thing to me is that it's the best thing we've ever done." The official release date and pre-order information will be announced here within the coming month.
